Good Fishing with Good People
The inshore fishing has been really good lately with catches of red drum, speckled trout, black drum, flounder and bluefish. Many of the red drum are over the slot, drag screaming fish and a blast on light tackle. The trout are not as thick as they were but are larger fish, 2 to 3 lbs. We are picking up a few flounder mixed in with the trout and reds.
My thirteen year old son Christian has been doing really well in the waterway fishing out of his 16? Carolina Skiff catching red drum, black drum, and.. (Read More)- Cape Fear Region 5-9-08 - Posted to Reel-Adventure Charters Fishing Report by Gillwetter Press

Hello everybody, I hope spring is treating you good. The weather has really warmed up around here; we are getting more good weather fishing days. There has been a lot more days with lighter winds and sunny sky’s. This good weather has lead to good fishing trips. One thing that I have seen is a lot of fish that are early this year, showing up two to four weeks earlier than usual.
Fishing has changed a lot since my last report in a good way. The Bonita bit well this and last week, we caught them trolling and casting. Spanish.. (Read More)- Spanish Mackerel Right off the Beach - Posted to Rod-Man Charters Fishing Report by Gillwetter Press
Hi Folks,
It has been an interesting week with various degrees of good and bad. The bad came on weather days that were much less than optimum and the good came on those rare light and variable wind days that seem to be farther and farther apart. Yesterday was absolutely the prettiest day thus far this year. Unfortunately, the rest of the week and weekend does not look very good…high winds and rainy.
Now here’s my report:
Inshore: Fishing has been good one day and slow to stopped the next. This is fairly typical in the.. (Read More)- Headhunter Outdoors 5-6-08 - Posted to Headhunter Outdoors Report by Gillwetter Press
Hi folks, Capt. David here with this weeks outdoors report.
The fish are biting folks! The water temps in the sound are around the low 70's and the reds are tearing it up.
The creeks off the waterway seem to be the best places to look for a school. I took a charter out on Sunday and we caught 19 back in a creek on cut bait and live bait. All I could find was little pinfish but they were hitting them.
The surf is giving up some Red and Black drum along with some whiting and all different sizes of Bluefish... (Read More)- Fishing Report 05-01-2008 - Posted to LiveLine Charters Fishing Report by Gillwetter Press
I took a day off of sorts. Actually I went fun fishing on a buddies boat and we wanted to do some exploring and jigging/bottom fishing. This was the single best day as far a quality of grouper we have had in a while in NC. I have attached a few pictures but the high light was a 36 plus lb Gag grouper caught by Chris. in addition we had a 27 lb Red Grouper and several others over the 20 lb mark. I also caught a 10 lb Sand Tile fish on a jig. At the end of.. (Read More)- Cape Fear Fishing, Blue Fish Fun = Big Fish Fun! - Posted to Reel-Adventure Fishing Videos by Gillwetter Press

I have had several phone calls in regards to the closing of the beaches around Oregon Inlet and Hatteras. This dose not pertain to the beaches north of Corolla. You will still be able to drive your ORV on these beaches no matter what the ruling is on April 4th.Good luck to the folks down on Hatteras with your battle for your beaches. It will be a sad day for all if they get closed down. Let us know what we can do to help.

Nice sea conditions have allowed going to the gulf stream.
Catch of blackfin tuna, wahoo and mahi! A blue marlin was hooked at the 100 fathom curve. The fishing should only get better and was told the yellow fin were down off of Charleston last week. They should be making their way north in the next couple of weeks.
The blackfin were caught way back behind the boat! Long lines were 200 plus yards out. Light leader and small baits were the ticket. Sreader bar rigs also scored well on the tuna!
Closer in caught grouper and snaller on the way home... (Read More)- SAILFISH - Istiophorus platypterus - Posted to Fish ID - Species Glossary by Gillwetter Press

The beautiful thing about the Carolina coast, is that there is always a fish that you can catch. Right now, it is grouper time. Along with Grouper, there are snapper, Black Sea Bass, and Grunts to be caught. IF you find the fish it can be non-stop action all day. The best thing about it is that all of those fish also make great table fare. The Striped Bass are also biting well this time of the year, and they can provide a fun, hard fight. Book your summer trips now, and gurantee your spot.

The fishing has been good and thankfully I have been busy. I want to thank all of my repeat clients for coming down in the fall and over the Holidays to enjoying the great fall/winter fishing. Winter fishing has arrived with speckled trout, striped bass, and red drum. Most of the fish have been caught on artificial lures and live bait. Everyone has enjoyed the new trolling motor, It allows us to cover lots of ground and makes lure fishing a blast.

It’s time for Spanish Mackerel and I’m here to tell you there are plenty out there. The piers are getting their share of Spanish. The size is still a little small. The biggest I have heard of was around one and a half pounds. Five to ten miles out there are plenty of mid-size King Mackerel around the fifteen-pound range. On the bottom, Black Bass and Snapper are really starting to bite. If you run to the Gulf Stream, well, that’s another story. Plenty of Tuna and Wahoo and some are trophy size.
